Nails Did

Getting a manicure is just what I needed. Cutting off cuticles and being drenched in lotion is such a liberating experience. After a manicure/pedicure I always feel so clean and put together. Nail color is important, in my opinion, when tying an outfit together. I've always leaned toward deep red tones, browns, and black during fall and winter. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of this OPI polish but I hope I can find it for future use. It's such a great shade of red. What's your color for fall?

The Tartan Pants

Sweater: American Apparel, Pants: Zara (old), Heels: Zara (old), Bag: Zara, Watch: Michael Kors

Yes, yes I am still alive. And yes I have been unforgivingly busy these past few weeks with school, reorganizing my room, and trying not to rip my hair out while doing homework. Though I've been wanting to take a break from it all and provide you all with a plethora of outfit posts, any free time I get is usually spent eating, sleeping, or watching Entourage. Rough, I know...
Though my thoughts have been with my blog, it's been difficult to find inspiration these past few weeks because of all the homework I've been trying to juggle. Constantly feeling inspired can unsuspectingly take it's toll on a little girl like me. So what does one do when feeling so boring? How does one not fall into the trap of dressing so....plain?
Dressing in all black or curling up in the largest knit known to man is my go-to. But this leaves me with another problem; IT'S TOO HOT IN LOS ANGELES. Ugh...
This is my attempt to steer clear from these problems even if I had to replace the sweater with a tank by noon. To keep away from dressing so blah I went with this lovely tartan print from Zara last season. Tartan is trending this season, but make sure to choose items you can wear over and over again!

I hope I'm able to blog more than I have been! Until then, I want to hear what you're all doing for Halloween! And also, shop my favorite tartan prints and sweaters below:

The Cozy Pants

Tank: T by Alexander Wang, Necklace: Forever 21, Pants: Joie, Heels: Zara, Sunglasses: Ray Ban

Look at me cheesin' in the last picture...I think it's because I actually have full range of motion in this Joie pants I've acquired. I really am not exaggerating when I say I could own 50 of these harem pants. No matter how many "Hammer Time" references are thrown my way, no one can stop the undeniably comfortable leg wear that just looks too damn good to ignore.
On this particular day I was feeling extra lazy compared to my normal sit-at-home-and-do-nothing-all-day routine; so I threw on some of my coziest garments. But then it dawned on me that I actually might need to leave the house for necessities such as food or sunlight. So I threw on some heels to feel accomplished. In my eyes, leopard print is a neutral, so I had to spice things up with a statement necklace and some small wrist accessories. If you've followed me for awhile now, you know my "spicing things up" isn't really TOO crazy. What I usually do is pick 3 or 4 of my favorite accessories and throw them on rather than the 9 or 10 or 25 pieces that some girls can pull off in a way that will never suit me. [cue jealousy]...
Also, throw on some round sunnies to accentuate how cool you are.
If I were to wear these pants and tank out to something a little more formal, I would have thrown on a structured blazer and maybe some nicer heels. Hmmm.....future outfit post?

Hope this helped on how you can create a not-so-boring but kind of boring outfit!

Boyfriends Hate Boyfriends

Blazer: SheInside, Tank: T by Alexander Wang, Jeans: Current/Elliot, Heels: ShoeMint, Bag: Zara (old)

photos by Marcus Nilsson

Why do (most) boyfriends absolutely detest boyfriend jeans? I mean...they were named after you, the least you could do is show a little respect to the boyfriends of the world that clothe your beloved lady friends. Especially the ones that your girlfriend spent a small fortune on...
I hadn't even had these bad boys on for a full 60 seconds when Marcus shot down my outfit with a, "you should really wear skinny jeans instead." Obviously men like jeans that accentuate your assets (emphasis on the ass) rather than these; but what they simply can't grasp is the idea that sometimes wearing jeans that don't cut off circulation to my feet/brain/sanity is a good thing. Don't get me wrong, a closet isn't complete without skinny jeans in every single color you can get your hands on, but boyfriend jeans are also a necessity for those days you feel like being comfortable.
Which leads me to the belief that comfort is a state of mind; meaning that state can change from person to person. I understand that some girls always feel comfortable in skinny jeans. Your physical state can be your reason for comfortability but one can contest that your mental or emotional state can add to your comfortable mind set, as well. Confidence and comfortability go hand in hand in my little world of fashion. If an item of clothing makes you feel confident and beautiful then in turn, you will feel comfortable. If you're wearing something that you think doesn't feel right or look right on you, you're going to feel like shit.
So the moral of my rambling is to wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident. Dressing like a boy in boyfriend jeans and a blazer made me feel comfortable, but what made me feel feminine and confident was pairing them with heels and a clutch. Try it, it works.
