Let's Talk About Fur...

WSJ

Fashion month is finally coming to an end which means we all have to wait in agony until all the beautiful collections hit stores! While we wait we have time to cultivate our wish lists and save up for our favorite pieces...even though I don't think my piggy bank will ever have enough to purchase everything on my wish list!

One trend that made a statement on this season's runways was fur. Fur is back and more prominent than ever, not that it ever really left...but it was definitely present this year. And although I have to admit that fur does make beautiful pieces, I still believe that it's not only controversial, but simply unethical. I was surprised to see so many designers using fur this year since it is becoming more and more condemned in our society. Regardless of the trend, I hope that consumers realize their power to make a statement to the producers and refrain from purchasing real fur. There are plenty of gorgeous faux fur options for us out there! Getting educated and spreading awareness on the subject is the source of change, which is why I decided to talk about fur and voice my opinion.

Stella McCartney was one designer that stood by her morals and still created beautiful faux fur pieces. McCartney debuted a wonderful line that consisted of pieces she refers to as "fur free fur." I love the fact that she created her own version of the overpowering trend. She even managed to promote a call for action in the industry. Leading by example at it's finest!

I'm really inspired by Stella McCartney's company statement and commitment to sustainability. I believe the fashion industry has so much power and should harness that power to create a change in the world; and brands like Stella McCartney are starting that revolution. For more information, skim through the links provided to see what you can do! It's very informative...and you don't even have to watch those incredibly horrifying videos of animals being tortured.

Thank you, Stella, for helping change the world! Scroll down to shop my favorite faux fur pieces!

LA Girl

Jacket: Urban Outfitters, Tee: Marc by Marc Jacobs via ShopBop, Bag: Balenciaga

photos by Marcus

I really like this detail shot that Marcus took of me the other day while roaming around Silverlake. I found this leather jacket at Urban Outfitters a few months ago and I couldn't resist..even though it was a bit pricey. But the price is completely justified because I wear it all the time and it'll be something to keep for a long time! I had been looking for a leather jacket that was a bit oversized with pockets and I took this one right off the mannequin! #nice

The best part about this leather jacket is that it's 100% recycled leather! From everything that includes beauty products and clothing, I've been actively making small changes to be a more conscious shopper. Hopefully, I keep getting more and more involved with sustainable shopping and I would love for you guys to share any tips you know too! More on that coming up soon!

HAPPY FRIDAY WOOOO!

Inspired

Feeling inspired by these soft blue hues. All my Scandi friends are so happy for the weather to be warming up, and I'm over here in LA wishing it was rainy so I can bundle up. The grass is always greener...

Would you go for a blue coat? Which color do you like the best out of these two pictures?

The Many Uses of a Neck Scarf

Blazer: Forever 21, Tee: H&M, Jeans: Frame Denim, Heels: Schutz via Shopbop, Scarf: H&M

Shopping smarter and budgeting a little bit more has been on my mind lately. It's easy to get lost in all the up and coming trends that are constantly bombarding your brain on the Internet. But, I have learned the hard way that sometimes you have to out-smart the Internet!

The neckerchief is one of my favorite trends for spring this year. Some scarves are upwards of over $100. Don't get me wrong, they're beautiful...but I just can't justify it. I'd have to really be in love. This one from H&M was $6! #steal. And, as you can see, it serves as a neck scarf, a belt, and even a head scarf if need be. I could even tie it around my wrist for a Leandra Medine-inspired look! Have you found the perfect scarf for spring?

Monday Inspo

Not sure where this image is from because I found it on Tumblr (so if you know please let me know), but it's giving me some serious inspiration this morning! I love the flared jeans with the statement boots. It's a minimal outfit that still makes a statement and looks put together. Taking notes!
